A full sweep normally takes about 45 minutes to an hour. If we encounter problems such as birds nests or a heavily creosoted flue this can increase the length of time needed and the cost.

If you’re the first appointment of the day we can give you a specific time but due to the sometimes unforeseen nature of what we do all other appointments will be given a more general timeframe, usually 1 hour time slots. We know it can be a pain waiting for a tradesperson to arrive and will do our absolute best to keep to schedule and keep you informed.

There are a few things you can do to help make your appointment run as smoothly as possible:

To ensure there are no hot embers within your appliance at the time of sweeping we ask that you refrain from having a fire the on the day of the appointment or the evening before.

We also require a clear space directly in front of your appliance of approximately 5ft x 5ft or more to work in.

We do everything possible to create no mess. We use runners where necessary and sheet up the area where we will be working, the stove or fire place is sealed before sweeping starts and a hoover is constantly running to catch any soot.

No. unlike the old traditional method of putting a stiff brush up the flue we now use rotary sweeping. The head has strimmer wire and with use of a power drill it whips the soot off the walls but causing no damage.
